Her creative design work in conjunction with the work of custom carpentry have given us all the features we were looking for, from easy access pantry to a pull-out shelf for our CD player.

We now have a warm and wonderful kitchen"   see results - project 3

Banquette.jpg (12287 bytes)"Jean Sharratt's  experience in cabinet and furniture design both in Europe and America, helped her client to understand design concepts. She facilitated changes smoothly between myself and the client so I was able to create the cabinetry with the knowledge that everybody would be happy.

Jean Sharratt is both a good people person and a talented designer."

View Dresser Island S.jpg (15248 bytes)" Working with Jean Sharratt on the complete renovation and redesign of our kitchen was a delightful and memorable experience, during both the planning and construction stages. Jean is a well traveled and likeable lady, full of practical and creative ideas drawn from her travels, sailing, and work here and abroad.

Very considerate of our family's needs and desires, Jean was willing to adapt her ideas or experiment with new ones. Communicating accurately and frequently with all parties involved in the project by phone, email and paper, Jean saw and achieved the "big picture" but was extremely detail- oriented also. I think her motto must be "leave no stone unturned".

I particularly liked how Jean brought a "continental flair" and familiarity with European and American design traditions to her work and to our kitchen. Since I had spent many holidays during my childhood in Provence, she understood the design features and colors which appeal to me.

Jean's enthusiasm for using local Maine craftspeople was very fortunate. Many of the admirable elements of our kitchen which guests "ooh and aah" over were  created within an hour's drive of our home,  including a stunning personalized scenic Maine backsplash by a ceramic artist, artful baskets, iron potholders from Edgecomb and deliciously colorful interior painted by a local artist.

Jean taught me a great deal about kitchen design and her cheerful sense of humor turned a challenging large project into a meaningful and fun educational endeavor. I always consider myself very lucky to have had her in charge of our kitchen design.

I and my husband and son and our friends and family continue to enjoy cooking and relaxing in the space immensely.
